What a great ski break.

The mussels are divine. White fleshed served in a garlic ridden white sauce. They also serve it with crispy garlic toast. A nice treat to warm your soul on the slopes or take the funicular up from the Deer Valley base.

Excellent Staff & Rooms

I stayed at the St. Regis for a business conference that was being held at the Montage. Unfortunately, I was only here to sleep for a few nights and I didn't get to enjoy all the amenities of the hotel. However, the service I received was excellent and I highly recommend a stay here. The rooms are fabulous!

Utah’s Premier Hotel

St Regis is perfect, as always. From the bar, to the restaurant, to the pools, and to the rooms, no detail is left to chance and there’s no better place in Utah. If you happen to be there in the afternoon, catch the opening of champagne with a sword.

Great food and views, non-existent service

Having just completed our stay at the St. Regis Deer Valley, I wanted to compile some feedback and review our experience! We stayed just one night in February, during the busy ski season (post-Sundance film festival in Park City). We tried to sample as much of the available options as possible, so I'll try to hit the high points for each. The Good: • Suite o Due to my Marriott Platinum (now Titanium) status, we were upgraded to a beautiful luxury suite on the 7th floor. We enjoyed the two gas fireplaces, stocked kitchen and two beautiful balconies overlooking the Deer Valley ski resort mountainside. • Bar o The bar experience was phenomenal - our drinks in the evening were expertly crafted and we really enjoyed chatting with Jesus, the fantastic bartender. He did a great job engaging us while not forcing a conversation, and the spicy margarita we had was truly spectacular. • Dining o We had an a-la-carte breakfast at the J&G Grill, and the food was quite good. The short-rib hash was a standout, perfectly cooked and went great with the breakfast potatoes (and the signature St. Regis DV Bloody Mary's) that we enjoyed. • Pool o We checked out the outdoor pool/hot-tub, and were pleasantly surprised with the pool area even in the winter. It's a great environment for lounging and watching the skiers go by. I would expect to have more hotel workers managing the outdoor area, (for example, the pool chairs were crusted over with ice) but it was a nice area to hang out. The Bad: • Service o Overall, the hotel service was definitely not up to the standard of a five-star resort, and definitely not up to what we'd expect from the St. Regis. The service did not seem like a 5-star hotel, but rather more akin to a business hotel like a Courtyard Marriott or even Fairfield Inn. • Driving up to the funicular to check in, there was not a dedicated attendant supervising the valet, leaving us to wait outside in the cold until one of the drivers showed up. • Upon check-in, no one offered to help us with our bags or otherwise ensure we had an easy check-in process. We were left to carry out own bags up to the 7th floor. • Platinum/Titanium Benefit o The front desk, unfortunately, did not help with explaining to us the platinum/titanium benefits we were entitled to as high-level elite members of Marriott/SPG rewards. We were unaware of our free breakfast voucher until we did some research online. • It seemed almost as if the front desk were reluctant to give us that information up front. In the future, it would be much appreciated if the front desk were up-front about which benefits elite members are entitled to. We were also unable to check out after 12 noon regardless of our Titanium status. • Amenities o While we enjoyed the s'mores in the evening, we were disappointed with the hotel staff's ability to procure standard amenities during our stay. After asking for a newspaper at the front desk, the staff never delivered the paper to our suite. • We assumed that such a prestigious hotel as the St. Regis would have these basic tasks on auto-pilot, but sadly found that our simple request had been ignored. Additionally, we never heard back from the St. Regis after sending them feedback directly, which was disappointing.

Winter wonderland

We stayed at this resort with our family of 4 (kids aged 6/9) and can’t wait to go back. Service as this resort was exceptional. We arrived during the busy Presidents’ Day holiday and despite the high occupancy we were upgraded into a suite. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect upon checking based upon the mixed online reviews, but am pleased to say we didn’t experience any issues at checkin. Check-in was a breeze. We arrived in the late morning and our suite was not available. Staff gave us a brief tour and we used the time to organize our ski equipment. The room was ready soon after we arrived. The kids were given welcome packages with sunglasses, coloring books and stuffed animals. The on-site ski shop was helpful. We brought our own boots but rented the rest of the equipment. The selection of equipment was better than expected for rentals and we had the opportunity to demo different types of skis throughout our stay. A plus was that we were able to charge our ski rentals on our hotel bill and get extra Marriott points. The property facilities are exquisite. We arrived during a snowstorm and it was magical. The resort has managed to blend the rustic nature of a mountain resort with the elegance of a St Regis. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which was gorgeous. We had a balcony overlooking the valley, two fireplaces, a full kitchen and spacious bathroom. The units look to be residential condo units that are rented out through the resort. As we traveled over a holiday period the resort had a number of activities for the kids. Each day there was something new. One day was balloon art and a caricaturist. The next day bouncy house and game room. Each night they offer s’mores and late afternoon a hot chocolate buffet is made available free of charge. We celebrated my daughters birthday while on property and the St Regis didn’t disappoint. We arrived back to our room to find balloons, a birthday cake and candles, wine and birthday gifts for her. Needless to say it was the highlight of her trip. The ski on and ski off location and ski concierge service was fantastic. It was hard to go home and have to put on my own gear again. The only downside is the lift by the St Regis was often closed due to high winds. The resort has a nicely sized pool and hot tub that overlooks the slopes. It was refreshing to take a dip after a day on the slopes. The kids club was a favorite of my kids with the coloring, video games and board games. It was staffed with two ladies and we were comfortable enough to leave my son alone for an hour or so. I visited the spa to use the common facilities. The space was well appointed and relaxing. The only downside was other guests who destroyed the serenity by talking on their phone loudly and had no respect for other guests. I was surprised that spa staff didn’t ask her to leave or shut off the phone. While we lived our stay at the St Regis there were some areas for improvement. The food was decent however the options were limited. There were not great options for family dining beyond the bar and the menu didn’t provide much variety. Breakfast was a buffet and was tasty with a good variety of options. As my husband has loyalty status our breakfast was included as an amenity. When we checked in we were told that our breakfast credit was one amount however we were informed another day into our stay that the resort changed its policy and the breakfast credit was reduced in half. Not exactly the St Regis experience to give a benefit one day and take it away another day mid stay. The staff seemed to realize how ridiculous this was and the price adjustment was taken care of at check out. Housekeeping was a challenge. We had great service the first half of our stay however as the week progressed and the resort got busier housekeeping service went down. We called several times before we left the room for service and came hone at the end of the day to find that housekeeping had not come. The front desk made their apologies and had to step in several times. Not a huge deal for us but certainly not service I would expect of a St Regis. The resort offers a free shuttle service to Park city which is a great benefit. We often took the shuttle out to downtown however found that there were very long wait times when returning to the hotel. We ended up using uber most nights. The staff driving were wonderful but they seemed to need more people. The other guests were perhaps the most challenging part of our stay and this is certainly of not fault of the resort. Parents were often intoxicated with entitled children throwing tantrums or running around unsupervised. I often watched people make a major mess of the lobby and rearrange furniture and then leave their mess expecting staff to clean it up. Staff were often treated poorly by guest, but were always respectful and gracious. Overall we had an exquisite stay at the St Regis and will absolutely be back to this resort.
