Positive experience, with room for improvement

Just finished a 3-night trip to St Regis over MLK weekend. Although it was a very busy time, service was strong, and amenities were a delight. Best part about this hotel — and the reason why I am sure to return — is the integrated ski rental and ski valet service. Effortless. They put you boots on for you, lay your skis in the snow, and off you go! Effortless. The ski valet people are so helpful and friendly. And I never had to lift a finger. Rooms were comfy, and not unlike a Four Seasons in terms of decor and features. Room service had a 1 hour delay, which was a little frustrating, but food was excellent. Lunch buffet was also outstanding. Just a few areas for improvement. First, with all the free water bottles being handed out, I was horrified that they do not recycle. That needs to change. Second, there needs to be a sign at the entrance to the funicular telling arriving guests with luggage to drive up to the lobby entrance. Otherwise, you get stuck with luggage and no bellman service, which is real a bummer. Finally, it would have been nice if someone told us at checkin that room service takes an hour. Then we could have done a better job of planning ahead Overall, st Regis is a gem. As long as the ski valet operation stays golden, I’ll be back!

Amazing Hotel!! Though they can do better on Sustainability

We went this winter to the hotel for a ski vacation with 2 kids, 9 and 3. We had an amazing time. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. There is something to do for everyone. My kids loved being there. Large lobby accommodates apre ski activities. The hotel serves hot cocoa, hot cider, kids love them. They have activities for the kids as well. The play room is very nice. Location is amazing, ski in an out. Ski schools are great. All around an amazing place! I have a few recommendations: 1) I was really surprised that the hotel's operation is not that greenl. Somewhere on the website says that they have low flush toilets, but I believe they have 1.25 gpf or 1.6 gpf in all bathrooms.1.6 gap federal requirement for toilets was passed in 1994!. We are in 2020. So companies like Marriot can do better. There are other low flush toilets that use way less water now. I was also very surprised to see that plasticware forks, spoons, knifes and plastic take-out containers are used in the lobby self-serve cafe. I understand some people want to take out their food in plasticware and eat at their room etc. but majority of the people sit an eat at the lobby. This creates tons of plastic trash. I was extra surprised to learn that St. Regis Deer Valley is NOT RECYCLING plastic bottles, plasticware at all. Guests and employees constantly use plastic water bottles. There are about 200 rooms. If every room consumes 5 bottles, that's 1000 bottles, plus the employees and other non-hotel guests. also think about how many people/kids just take a few sips of water then throw away the bottle. Plus all the other juice and other beverage bottles that are bing thrown away every second in the hotel. The number of plastic bottles, plastic utensils, plastic containers the hotel throws each day to LANDFILL is in thousands, this is just astronomical. Also, putting a card on a night table asking people if they want their bed sheets and towels to be changed everyday is not enough to save water. Most people don't even see the card. Kids throw the towels away etc. So trying to save water only by offering to re-use towels is not an enough effort. Marriott Hotels most hotels, especially a hotel like St. Regis Deer Valley's entire business is based on the what nature has to offer, the beautiful snow, white mountains, in the summer biking, nature tours etc. Climate change is real. I already heard from locals that the winter season is getting shorter. I am sure that a company like Marriott can do better to stop climate change. Why not partner up with other hotels for plastic collection. Or why not offer real silverware, real porcelain/ceramic real plates for the breakfast. Offer people that first and if a guest asks for a take out, then offer the plastic ware. Don't just offer the plasticware and plastic container's first. Also there is complimentary coffee and tea in the morning. Some people would like to take that out to their room. But why not also put real coffee mugs for those who wish the sit at the lobby. People use paper cups and plastic cup covers, and paper sleeves, it's tons of waste being generated. We love the hotel and will for sure come back again for another wonderful vacation. I hope together we can do better for our natural environment. I'd like to thank the hotel staff for their amazing hospitality. It's truly a special place. My kids already want to go back. Regards.

Ski in Ski Out Luxury

This was our second year staying as a family during the busy New Year's Holiday week. We feel it was even better than our stay last year. The ski valets again were the highlight of the trip - going down in slippers, and being helped with your ski boots - and returning again to help with ski boots and hot chocolate are a highlight. Moreover - their valets are extremely organized - never was there in issue with locating our boots and ski equipment as we have experienced in some other ski in / ski out properties. Last day - we skied right up until check out time - skis / suitcases all packed and ready to go in our car while we ate lunch - incredible! Rime Seafood (the newly branded J & G) - was delicious. Of course - typical resort pricing, but the food was tasty every time and the service the majority of the time was excellent (we had one "snooty" server - other than that nothing but friendly, helpful service). This time we brought a rental car and did appreciate the ability to have some variety to go off property and try other restaurants. Otherwise you can feel a bit "stuck" as even with delicious food - the menu options get old after a few days. Here I will mention the only "miss" when they are busy - there is difficulty keeping up with the courtesy shuttle when they are at full capacity and we did see some folks getting antsy / almost missing their restaurant reservations. With a car / valet service - we felt more relaxed about this - as long as we allowed 15 - 20 minutes to locate / bring up our car, we were fine. The butlers were super responsive and housekeeping was never an issue (always came home to a clean room after a half day of skiing) and turn down service was timely as well. We have experienced in other luxury resorts lapses in their ability to maintain services when during busy season but not an issue here. During the "festive" season - they maintain an additional schedule of family entertainment to entertain the kids, and of course, the downstairs playroom (with games, arts and video games) was ever popular with our kids. Last but not least - the manager went above and beyond (we did not even ask) when our suitcase was damaged in a freak accident by the heat from the closet light. She reached out to us and replaced the damaged suitcase. One of our favorite places to ski.

Luxury Family Ski Vacation

We have been staying at the St Regis Deer Valley for the past 5 years as a family with three children ages 3, 5 and 13. We love to ski and wanted to have the access the St. Regis Deer Valley provides with ski in/out and the funicular that will take you directly down to the snowpark lodge and ski school. This year our youngest was no longer in a crib so we had to upgrade to two rooms to be able to accommodate all of us and must say we were not disappointed. We considered staying at another hotel or getting a house but we love the service and the amenities this hotel offers. Marriott recently took over ownership and the improvements are fantastic! The lobby and most of the rooms were completely redecorated making the lobby much more comfortable and inviting with chic new furnishings and a lot more gathering areas for families and friends to relax and enjoy themselves. The exterior of the hotel was also more festive this year with 20 ft nutcrackers welcoming you to the hotel and a lot more decorations inside and out giving you that warm holiday spirit. We love the complimentary hot chocolate bar complete with whip cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings and heath bar sprinkles. The s’mores are always a favorite for the kids but the new activities after skiing were a huge improvement over past years. They had balloon animals and hand drawn portraits for the kids one night, jousting and a bouncy house for the kids, a live exhibit with handlers for birds of prey featuring a Mongolian owl, peregrine falcon and a barn owl! That was amazing to be able to see such spectacular birds up close and learn all about them. I think the adults were more impressed then the kids with that exhibit. They also had a magician, gingerbread house decorating and movie night in the exclusive deer crest club. The kids club also had some new improvements with a basketball pop a shot added, games, art projects and the director was wonderful with my little ones. Last hit not least the favorite was the addition of Alice the Australian Sheppard puppy who hangs out in the lobby. While all St Regis offer the spa, pool and jacuzzi they also added poolside sauna and steam. The service is always top knotch and the new menu at the hotel restaurant was flavorful and had a good variety for all of us to enjoy. We really love that we don’t have to get a car because this hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service within 5 miles. This makes it easy to venture to Park City for shopping or restaurants or enjoy other ski resorts off site. We absolutely love coming to this hotel and try to make it a yearly trip. During the transition last year from Sheraton to Marriott we were disappointed and considered not coming back but the completed improvements were fantastic and our experience was memorable. Definitely great for families. There are a lot of children around spring break and Christmas so maybe not the best for a romantic getaway but great for business or family vacation.

Amazing Experience EVERY TIME

This was our fourth consecutive year staying at the St. Regis Deer Valley. It all starts with the leadership of Ben Edgar, Angie and Claudia. Without these vital concierge services, you might as well stay in an AirBNB. This hotel is beautiful, amazing amenities, and unparalleled customer service. Ski in and ski out. There isn't one area that the hotel lacks, and, if ever ( rarely) there are any issues; regardless of small or large, the staff ameliorates. We always, always leave with a heavy heart because the experience and people that manage this property treat us like royalty.
