Pricey for Average

We came to the Waldorf for a short ski Vacation in early March. We had not skied for 5 years and decided to splurge on a short trip. The ski valet service is excellent. You are just below the canyons lodge and it is very easy and accessable to get up there. You keep your boots in a comfortable boot room and they are brought to you off the boot heater each morning. Your skiis are waiting for you at the base of the lift or will be picked up if you want to go to another area. The Hotel makes it very easy to get to Deer Valley and Park City. Door to door service. I found the service of the hotel to be average. The staff is very friendly. However, We had to walk a country mile to get to and from our room and the ice machine was 2 floors down and just as long of a walk. The concierge was average. I called prior to our arrrival and asked for help with dining reservations I never heard back from the concierge.I only received texts from the restaurants the day of the reservation for 2 of the 3 nights. I had to contact concierge back to find out about our last night which the restaurant could not take us. More communication would have been nice. Our room was small for $850/night and I felt it was a Pricey average stay.

Fantastic experience.

Great hotel with excellent staff. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. The icing on the cake was leaving milk and cookies in our room for the kids at night! The whole family had a great experience and we will be returning.

Spa could use some attention!

Upon check in we were asked if we had visited the spa before. We said no and were taken downstairs to the person working the lower desk. This person was a male who showed us a couple of things and then informed us that he couldn't enter the women's locker room. We were left to figure out the locks and robes etc. by ourselves. We didn't even know where all of the facilities or doorways were located. The treatment was good and afterwards we tried to relax in the room with the fireplace. The heat in this area is unbelievable! Way too hot! We then tried to order lunch from the same male attendant but he could barely take our order because of the language barrier. We had to go over it at least 5 times before he understood. Very frustrating. He was so busy playing on his phone we felt like we were totally interupting him to even ask for help. The spa is ok but not 5 star. To get 5 star you have to have 5 star service. Just isn't there.

It is a not worth it.

I used Hilton Points on the room. I stayed for only one night. I can't believe how much it costs. It is nothing special. The room was smaller than a regular Hilton room, and the room rate as $1045 prior to points, and I upgraded for $25 for a pool view. They put me a non pool view with a balcony. When I got moved I did not get the balcony. The fan in the room never went off the whole night. I tried everything to get it to turn off. Again it is nothing special. I have had better experiences at Hampton Inns.

Fantastic Stay

I just had a wonderful stay at Waldorf! The night before our stay, we had an operational flight delay that caused us to miss our connection to SLC. Needless to say, when we finally arrived in SLC the next morning, we had been without our luggage overnight and were in dire need of freshening up and changing clothes. Special thanks to Eric, whom I contacted prior to arriving at the Waldorf, who allowed us early check-in to our room before we hit the slopes in the afternoon. That one gesture exceeded our expectations. Other features we enjoyed were the 2 min walk across the street to hop a gondola to the Canyon base area. Another reviewer suggested at the end of the day NOT taking the gondola back, as you can essentially ski right back to the hotel at the end of the day. We weren’t smart enough to remember that, but on the gondola ride to the resort, take note of the trail you can ski all the way back on! The ski valet was wonderful for handling our skis and boots. The hot tub felt amazing in the evening after a day on the slopes, and we heard there was a steam room and sauna open to guests in the spa locker room but we didn’t visit it. Our room was clean and very nice. Fireplace was a nice touch, as was evening turn-down service and our robes & slippers. But no towel racks in the bathroom and only two hooks seemed a little sparse. Hilton Honors elite members are given a free continental (cold) breakfast credit each morning, and the morning of our departure we had to leave by about 7:15am. The restaurant doesn’t open until 7am, but they graciously packed us breakfast including juice and coffee to go. We heard that for guests dining from 6-7am, room service is available for a reimbursable $15 per 2 guests for an HHonors breakfast, but we enjoyed our continental breakfast plenty. Hotel resort fee is waved for HHonors point redemptions. Uber from SLC-Park City ran us $33, but it jumped up slightly for the return based on limited drivers in the vicinity at 7:15 in the morning. Still, we found this quicker and more convenient than a rental car. If visiting Park City in the future, we would happily visit this hotel again. And as this was maybe my 4th time skiing Park City, that should speak as to our enjoyment of the resort. Happy travels!
